In 2004, middle schoolers Kiersten and Hans were on a field trip at an apiary. Because staff had neglected to clean up a puddle of honey, Hans slipped and fell into a beehive. As he was violently attacked, Kiersten, frozen with terror, could do nothing but gaze at the horrific scene.
